|DPS Bids farewell to the Common Man - An Obituary|
R.K Laxman, the eminent Caricaturist and Cartoonist died of a cardiac arrest followed by multiple organ failure at the age of 93 at a hospital in Pune yesterday. Born on 21st October 1921 in Mysore, Laxman lampooned the health of democracy through his cartoons and caricatures. Having worked with the Times of India since the 1950s, RK Laxman, the iconoclast gave a face to “The Common Man” by addressing their day to day problems. He thus became a household name, who balanced courage and caution in equal measure through his satirical political cartoons which were eagerly awaited with the morning cup of tea.
DPS Gurgaon bids farewell to the iconoclast who mightily held that nothing is more sacrosanct than the freedom of expression.
He was accorded a state funeral in Pune on Tuesday, 27 January 2015.
