The first leg of the Indo-German Student Cultural Exchange Programme – XVI Rhythm (2025–26) commenced with much warmth and enthusiasm as the German delegation arrived on 24th October 2025 at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. The group comprised seven students and two accompanying teachers, Mr. Christian Zierl and Ms. Katharina Färber, from Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium, Crailsheim, Germany. They were graciously welcomed by their host families marking the beginning of a deeply enriching intercultural journey. The initial days offered the visiting students an opportunity to settle into their new environment, understand Indian customs, and experience the warmth and rhythm of family life, laying a meaningful foundation for the exchange that followed.
On 27th October 2025, the German students were formally received at school with a traditional Indian welcome, symbolising the spirit of hospitality and cultural respect. This was followed by an interaction with Ms. Aditi Misra, the Director Principal along with an orientation to help the guests understand the ethos of the institution. The German students engaged wholeheartedly in art, dance, yoga, and sports sessions, which allowed them to experience India’s artistic and cultural vibrancy. The days ahead were filled with thoughtfully designed experiences: a visit to the Primary Wing at DPS Sector 47, an educational excursion to the Qutub Minar, and a detailed Dilli Darshan, covering historical landmarks such as India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, and the culturally rich Dilli Haat. In addition, the German students attended regular classroom sessions with their Indian partners, collaborated on art projects, and interacted with German language learners, strengthening not only academic connections but also personal bonds, mutual respect, and cross-cultural understanding.
A major highlight of the programme was the three-day educational tour to Jaipur and Agra, during which Indian and German students explored architectural marvels and heritage sites that showcased India’s rich historical and cultural legacy. This journey served as a powerful cultural exchange in itself, allowing students to gain insights into India’s diversity and historical depth. Upon their return, the delegation participated in intensive preparations for the Cultural Programme held on 6th November 2025. The programme blossomed into a lively celebration of Indo-German friendship, enriched by mesmerising musical renditions and dynamic Bollywood dances performed by students from both countries. These collaborative presentations beautifully reflected unity, creativity and shared learning. The first leg of the exchange concluded on 7th November 2025, as the delegation departed with cherished memories, new friendships and a deeper appreciation for India’s cultural landscape, successfully completing a remarkable and impactful beginning to XVI Rhythm.
