Bournemouth 2018
A team of 15 students along with 2 teacher escorts from DPS Gurgaon successfully completed the third rhythm of the Bespoke Summer Creative Art and Design Certificate Course at Arts University Bournemouth UK from 17th of June 2018 to 29thJune, 2018.
The objective of the two week creative summer course was to help students learn skills from creative experts in a university environment with access to world-class facilities, highly acclaimed teaching staff, visiting lecturers and specialist learning resources.
During the first week of their stay, the students got an exposure to the Creative University life in England and were exposed to various drawing approaches, liner perspectivesand creative applied art forms like animation, printing etc. students got an opportunity to make an animated movie themselves. They also got this creative insightthat visual artwas not just moving the pencil all the time on paper but alsoit’s a method to communicate… with different creative mediums which helps us to share thoughts, ideas and visions that may not be able to be articulated in any other way .
In the next week students learnt about Linear Perspectives and the different aspects of perspective drawing.Printingclass opened the world of screen printing and students learnt to prepare the screens, prepared ink and printed on paper then made beautiful t-shirts and bags.Students also got a chance to explore the world of fashion. They were given the task to create outfits out of a pair ofjeans which was very challenging .
During the weekends excursions a trip to Durdle Door one of the Jurassic Coast's most iconic landscapes, a natural arch and Lulworth cove worked as an interesting energizers . The visit to the British Museum and Modern Tate Gallery was an eye opener for students when they saw a vast collection of world art and artefacts. The freeze tap theatre made them experience the various forms of drama and dance class added up to the multidisciplinary learning ,
The course came to an end with a convocation ceremony, students received a certificate from the Summer School Head Ms. Claire Mcintyre.Andweall came back home with loads of creative learning from UK’s No. 1 Arts University, a network of new friends and expert tutors and a summer to remember.
