Classroom Program 2018-19 Leg 2

DPS Gurgaon successfully culminated the second leg of the Swiss India Classroom Project with its Swiss partner school, Kantonsschule Zurcher Unterland , KZU,Bulach, Switzerland.

23 students of Delhi Public School, Gurgaon along with their teachers Ms. Rati Chugh and Ms. Shradha Bhatnagar, visited KZU from 15th March 2019 to 24th March 2019. They were hosted by their Swiss counterparts.

The Indian students were welcomed by the Principal of the school,Mr. Roland Luthi and President of Board of Governors, Mr. Urs Stahli. Through the week students attended lessons of varied subjects like Maths, Physics, History, Biology, Chemistry, French, German, Music and English which gave them an insight into the Swiss education system. As a part of the project work, groups of students presented their comparative analysis and research on various aspects such as sports, political system, cuisine etc. of the two countries. It was a great learning platform for everyone. The days spent at school were filled with fun activities and learning of various life skills.

The students got an opportunity to meet the Mayor of Bulach ,Mr. Mark Eberli, the town clerk, Mr., Christian Muhlethaler and visited the old town of Bulach with official tour guides. They understood the working of REGA, the Swiss Rescue Systems, a private organisation working towards saving human lives without any state help.During their stay, the indian students along with their partners visited the beautiful mountains of Titlis, city of Lucerne and witnessed an Ice Hockey Match.

They also attended workshops on tunnel construction, chocolate making at Laderach chocolate factory and Ballet, a traditional dance form. These workshops not only gave them hands on experience but also an overview of the Swiss economy and culture. They visited NEST EMPA, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material testing and Research and learnt about new and economical ways of using materials and technologies for a sustainable future . Staying with their host families they learnt about Swiss food and lifestyle. They were indeed thrilled to find a home away from home.

To mark the culmination of the second leg of the first rhythm of the exchange, a cultural evening was organized on 23rd March 2019, at KZU. The Principal expressed joy on the success of the exchange. He thanked the teachers who initiated the exchange and the parents for being extremely supportive. The wonderful times spent together were brought to light through heart-warming experiences shared by students from both countries. Presentations of various events showcased the unforgettable moments spent together in India and Switzerland. The students sang a medley of popular Swiss and Indian songs and presented beautiful performances of Indian classical and Bollywood numbers. It was indeed an evening to remember, with strong bonds of everlasting friendship and a promise to meet again.
